How to become a certified ADHD Coach – a breif check-list:

Enroll in a program accreditied by a recognised organisation:

  •    PAAC (Professional Association of ADHD Coaches) for credentials in ADHD coaching specifically
  •    ICF (International Coaching Federation) the largest credentialing body for general Life Coaching, non ADHD specific.
Educators’ qualifications
Trainers in ADHD coaching programs must meet specific standards to teach:
  • hold advanced certification, such as PAAC; PCAC -Professional Certified ADHD Coach or ICF; PCC -Professional Certified Coach or preferably higher-level credential ( MCC or MCAC)
  • demonstrate significant experience as a practicing ADHD Coach (e.g., a minimum of 5 years in the field).
  • actively maintain their own certification and adhere to ethical standards.
Meet certification requirements
To become certified as an ADHD Coach you must:
  • complete the required training hours (e.g.180-300 h, depending on the program and level of certification
  • accumulate coaching experience hours with clients and receive mentoring from a higher-level credentialed coach.
  • pass an assessment process to demonstrate core competencies, ADHD coaching skills, ADHD-knowledge and ethics.
Maintaining an ADHD Coach certification
ADHD Coach certification must be renewed periodically requiring:
  • continuing education of additional training within a specific time frame
  • adherence to ethical guidelines and core competencies.
Keep an open coaching practice
To maintain certification and ensure credibility, ADHD coaches must actively work with clients in an open practice. This involves:
  • consistently applying ADHD Coaching in sessions with clients.
  • staying informed about advancements in ADHD research and integrating new strategies into practice.
